CM Punk appears to have ruled out the possibility of his wife AJ Lee (April Mendez) joining him in signing with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Punk even mentioned her by name at the end of his promo on last week’s Dynamite, and many people took that as a potential hint, but it does in fact sound very unlikely that she’ll be returning.
Speaking with the New York Post, CM Punk said:
“I just want to say, no. Just because (of) her neck. The reason she stopped wrestling is because of her neck. She’s got a bad neck, you know. I wouldn’t want her to jeopardize (her) health and neither would she, so we’ll put an end to that rumor right now.”
AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker had previously said she’d love the idea of a mixed tag match teaming with her boyfriend Adam Cole – who is now a free agent – against Punk and AJ.
Punk will appear on tonight’s AEW Dynamite and his in-ring return is set for All Out this coming Sunday against Darby Allin.
