An update may have come to light regarding the WWE status of Sami Zayn following reports about his long-time friend Kevin Owens.
With Owens’ contract expiring on January 31, 2022, and him already teasing a move to AEW, a lot of people have been curious about Zayn’s situation.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that Zayn’s contract is up later this year.
However, before the Observer came out, Fightful Select had reported earlier last week that the Fall 2021 date that was originally believed to be when Zayn’s contract was coming up wasn’t correct.
Therefore, it’s unclear whether the Observer is going off the original belief before that was debunked by Fightful, or it’s still a new update and Zayn’s contract is indeed up later this year.
Either way, with Owens seemingly on his way out, it would certainly seem likely that Sami Zayn will follow suit whenever he’s able to. Or actually, if the Observer report is accurate, it would actually be Zayn leaving first.
We’ll keep you updated as more information comes to light.
