This past Wednesday (September 22), AEW held it’s largest show to date in front of over 20,000 fans in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The show was built around the dream encounter between AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and Bryan Danielson, which ended up going to a time limit draw.
Jim Ross was on commentary for the match, and said on Twitter earlier today that Wednesday’s show was ‘the most fun night’ in his career.
When Bully Ray shared the card for a WWE show 21 years ago in Madison Square Garden, JR responded:
Who booked this card for goodness sakes? #AEWDynamiteGrandSlam? Like @AEW #AEWGrandSlam, this MSG card was loaded. But IMO, Wednesday night was the most exciting night of my pro wrestling career which started in 1974. #Blessed
The match between Danielson and Omega was awarded a five star rating in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the first time Danielson has earned this accolade.
