AEW President Tony Khan has now shot down rumors that he has filed to run for Congress in Florida’s District 4.
Reports cited a statement of candidacy made with the Federal Election Commission in September 21, 2021. On Twitter, Khan confirmed that he’s definitely not running for Congress, writing:
“The fact checking standard for @ProFootballTalk reporting is far lower than that of @AEW’s roving reporter @tonyschiavone24. I’m definitely not running for Congress; this filing is faker than Eddie Gilbert’s apology to Tommy Rich in 1984. PFT sources as trustworthy as @The_MJF”
Jacksonville Today, which previously reported on Khan’s filing, now notes that Khan is not listed as a current candidate in the congressional race, and whoever filed the initial statement didn’t include any financial reports.
Khan has been busy with AEW, which recently announced Keith Lee as the promotion’s newest signing. Lee made his AEW debut on Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite.
Also on this week’s show, NJPW’s Jay White helped Adam Cole and the Young Bucks beat down Roppongi Vice. NJPW has indicated that White will appear for AEW frequently over the next few weeks.
