John Cena has responded to WWE star Theory apologising for being a better US Champion, giving a spot of advice to the rising star.
On Saturday, Theory sent a backhanded birthday message to the 16-time World Champion, in which he claimed that he is better than John Cena, showing off his US Title.
Cena has held the US Championship on five separate occasions, with his 2015 reigns considered by many to be some of the best in the title’s history
On Twitter, Cena argued that Theory should only apologise to him if he stops putting in the effort to live up to his potential, noting:
“Everyone understands that you have far more talent, strength, and gifts than I ever had. Don’t apologize for that. Ever. An apology should come 20 years from now if you fail to provide the EFFORT needed to turn your potential into your legacy. I hope that day never comes. ?”
Theory is not the only person drawing comparisons between himself and the former WWE star, with Vince McMahon reportedly seeing a young John Cena in the new US Champion.
McMahon’s on-screen protege defeated Finn Balor for the gold on last Monday’s edition of WWE Raw.
