Naomi Shares Thoughts On WWE Feud With Sonya Deville WWE

WWE SmackDown star Naomi has shared her honest thoughts on her recent rivalry and storyline with Sonya Deville.

Naomi began butting heads with the authority figure soon-after joining the Blue Brand in August 2021. The duo first shared the ring in handicap action that October, before the two competitors finally faced off in a singles match in late January.

Deville and Naomi’s feud spilled over into the SmackDown Women’s Title storyline, with Deville teaming with Charlotte Flair to do battle with the team of Naomi & Ronda Rousey at Elimination Chamber in February.

Many fans criticised segments of the rivalry for feeling repetitive, with Naomi and Deville only facing off a handful of times over the course of the 7-month long storyline.

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Naomi stated that she felt like she learned a lot as a performer during the feud, noting:

“I don’t know because my entire career I’ve never really had a storyline like that, that focused on me. Let alone that lasted a month, longer than two weeks. So I wasn’t sure what it was going to come about, but I was super excited to be a part of a storyline and to also have a great heel to work.

“I feel like my job was made a lot easier because she was and is so terrible and so unfair and abused her power a lot. I feel like I learned a lot, I feel like I grew a lot. I know that I’m capable of carrying a story like that. Honestly, I want to beat her up some more. I need to get her some more, I need a little more.”

Naomi went on to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 38. The star most recently wrestled on WWE TV on the April 18 edition of Raw, and was in action at the tapings for Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
