Report: WWE Working With Dark Side Of The Ring Creators For New VICE Series WWE/Dark Side of the Ring

New details have reportedly emerged regarding a new VICE series that will see WWE working with the creators of Dark Side of the Ring.

There had been some question marks around the future of Dark Side of the Ring after it was originally reported that the series had been cancelled, but VICE itself seemed to refute that.

Well, a new report from SEScoops appears to have provided some clarification.

The report states that Evan Husney and Jason Eisener, the series’ creators, are working on a new series, that is said to have a “much softer, sanitized” tone.

Moreover, unlike with Dark Side, WWE has given VICE access to its footage archives, as well as the ability to use contracted talent.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is said to have already filmed some stuff for the series, with more legends expected to do so. The show is expected to premiere in September, with the format being “campfire talks about the old days of wrestling”.

SEScoops’ report signs off with:

WWE has a lucrative relationship with A&E, a company that has an ownership stake in Vice. Expect to see a show that resembles WWE’s “softball” programming on A&E, instead of the exposé format of Dark Side that explored some of wrestling’s most disturbing urban legends.

Dark Side of the Ring caused controversy for many of its episodes, but perhaps none more so than the Plane Ride from Hell, which seemed to be its ultimate downfall.
