D-Von Dudley has opened up about the benefits of being a WWE producer compared to being an in-ring performer for the company.
Dudley became a backstage producer for the company on September 26 2016, a month after his final appearance as a member of the roster. Following his recent spinal surgery, D-Von returned to his WWE role, now working behind the scenes for the NXT brand.
Speaking on The A2theK Wrestling Show, D-Von discussed the longevity of his career, noting:
“I can do this for the next 30 or 40 years as a producer, I don’t have to take another bump in my life, which I can’t now after my back surgery.
“I don’t have to take another bump in my life and be paid very well and my thing is helping out the younger talent. When I found out I was going in for back surgery, when I found out how bad it was, I just, I couldn’t do the traveling anymore, you know?
“I didn’t want to be in a plane anymore, I didn’t want to be in and out of the car. I’m 45 minutes away from the Performance Center, so I’m home in my bed every night.”
Dudley has made several appearances for WWE since first starting as a producer, reuniting with Bubba Ray Dudley on the 25th anniversary edition of WWE Raw in January 2018, and siding with The Revival (FTR) during the 2019 Raw Reunion episode.
