AEW announcer Jim Ross has revealed that Rampage is now being viewed as a ‘high priority’ within the promotion.
Speaking on his ‘Grillin JR’ podcast’, Ross noted that the company is aiming to build a consistent and loyal audience with their Friday show. Ross said:
“Rampage is a high priority right now within the confines of AEW. We want to make this Friday night show good and build a loyal audience and I think we’re going to do that. I really do. I enjoy the opportunity. I did the show with Excalibur and Schiavone and I love it. Just loved it.
“We had so much fun. When you cut your roster of announcers down to three, everything becomes more manageable. You’re not driving in so much traffic. That was the goal there.”
Viewership figures for Rampage have been sitting around 400,000 for a while, with the September 23 Grand Slam special (528,000 total viewers) being the first edition of Rampage to draw over 500k viewers since the August 12 episode.
Last week’s September 30 episode drew a total of 472,000 viewers.
