AEW star Billy Gunn has discussed his absence from the D-Generation X 25 Year Anniversary on Raw.
The October 10 edition of WWE Raw was headlined by D-Generation X reuniting to celebrate 25 years since the stable was created.
WWE featured former members Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg and X-Pac on that night, but current AEW star Billy Gunn was missing from the reunion.
Since then, Road Dogg has openly admitted that he would have liked for Gunn to be there.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Billy Gunn was asked about missing the segment. Although he would have also liked to be part of the reunion, the AEW star admitted that he understands that sometimes working for a different company, these things sometimes don’t work out.
He answered:
“Of course, I would have liked to have been there, but I understand that I work for another company. It was a collective decision. I’m not putting it on anyone. I’m not sour about it. We’re two separate companies, and it just didn’t work out.”
Billy Gunn is currently associated with AEW World Tag Team Champions Max Caster and Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed. The trio have become one of the most popular acts in the company thanks to their scissoring catchphrase and handshake.
In regards to the connection The Acclaimed has created with the fans, Gunn said:
“We jell so well together. We’re not trying to fight each other. DX was so good because everybody knew their spot and none of us were trying to jockey for position. It’s the same here. We fit together in The Acclaimed, and we’re focused on doing the best thing collectively for the group. The goal is to make this the best this can be, and I’m here to help them be the best they can be. I want them to have the same success I had.”
Billy Gunn will back in the corner of The Acclaimed when they defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Tony Nese and Josh Woods on the October 21 edition of Rampage.
