NJPW IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has revealed that he wouldn’t want his son to become a wrestler.
Okada is often recognised as one of the best ‘big match’ wrestlers on the planet. Despite his own passion for pro-wrestling, Okada would think twice about letting his son become a competitor himself.
Speaking with ‘TEAM Housework & Childcare‘, Okada stated that he’d prefer his kid to enter a safer line of work.
Noting that he would ultimately let his son wrestle if he was really passionate, Okada said:
“Also, fans may expect it, but if my son wanted to become a pro wrestler, I think I would oppose it.
“It’s a tough world, and he would inevitably attract attention.
“Well, if he really wants to do it, I will let him. I’ll give him a lot of pressure though. I really want him to have a safer job (laughs).”
Okada and his wife Suzuko Mimori welcomed their son into the world in August 2022.
At Wrestle Kingdom 17, Okada defeated Jay White to become the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
His next challenger is set to be determined in an MMA Rules bout.
