The wrestling world is reeling from the death of Jay Briscoe, who passed away at the age of 38, with NJPW and NOAH now paying tribute.
On Tuesday January 17, it was confirmed that Jay Briscoe had passed away following a car accident in Laurel, Delaware.
A donation page has been opened by a friend of the Pugh family to support them.
The GiveSendGo donation page is listed as “the only campaign that has been approved by the family.”
At Wrestle Kingdom 17 Night 2, a co-produced event between New Japan and Pro-Wrestling NOAH, both companies paid tribute to the lost star.
Wrestling Observer reports that:
“The main card opened with a tribute to the late Jay Briscoe, who held gold in both New Japan and NOAH with his brother Mark.
“The NOAH and NJPW rosters walked to the ring, with Naomichi Marufuji and Hiroshi Tanahashi holding portraits of Jay.
“After a ten-bell salute, “Reach for the sky, boy” played through Yokohama Arena.”
The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) were former IWGP Tag Team Champions, two-time NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions (with Toru Yano) in New Japan.
They held the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship in Pro Wrestling NOAH.
