The wrestling Forbidden Door is wide open right now, which was never more on display than at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17.
Wrestle Kingdom featured contracted talent from NJPW, AEW and WWE on the show.
Well IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada recently spoke to Tokyo Sports about the current wrestling world.
Interestingly, Okada had his own pitch for a cross-promotional world cup tournament, and he’s even prepared to go to Tony Khan and Triple H to get it started if need be.
He said:
“It would be interesting to have a wrestling World Cup, it would be fun to have a big event on a global scale. We could have a tag team of Okada and Nakamura or Naito to fight for their country. If necessary I will go see Tony Khan and Triple H.”
Karl Anderson wrestled at Wrestle Kingdom 17 while under a WWE contract, but there were reportedly talks for AJ Styles to make an appearance at the show prior to him breaking his ankle.
