In the opening match of the night, an NXT champion was able to narrowly retain their title, after an assist from an unlikely ally.
The NXT premium live event Vengeance Day kicked off with an opening montage featuring Charlotte Flair right into an exceptional match!
Wes Lee put his NXT North American Championship on the line during a captivating battle with Dijak.
When Dijak had Lee vulnerable on the outside, pinned to a ringside office chair with a broomstick no less, Dijak went off the top turnbuckle.
However, a run in save by Tony D’Angelo and Stacks to shove Lee out of the way and bear the brunt of Dijak’s impact, Lee was able to continue the match.
In the end, Wes Lee was able to retain his NXT North American Championship after a hard fought battle with Dijak in a show stealing performance to start the night.
Next up, the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships were on the line as the second of five championship matches rolled on.
