A top NJPW has reported sustained an injury during their brutal New Japan Cup elimination tournament match on March 13 2023.
Will Ospreay took on Mark Davis in a twenty-minute encounter that saw both members of United Empire square off.
Ospreay would be victorious but has reportedly come out of the match with a shoulder injury.
Dave Meltzer revealed the news on Wrestling Observer Radio, stating that Ospreay appeared to have injured his shoulder during a “risky” spot in the match.
With Davis pulling up the floor mats to bury Ospreay, Davis hit a senton on his now hidden opponent.
According to Meltzer, Ospreay heard a pop but would continue the match regardless.
Further details of the injury are, at the time of writing, not known.
Following this victory, Ospreay is set to face EVIL in the quarter-finals of the New Japan Cup on March 17.
