A WWE star has revealed an injury sustained prior to WrestleMania 39.
At WrestleMania 39, Edge defeated Demon Finn Balor inside of Hell In A Cell to end their year-long rivalry.
This bout marked Balor’s first WrestleMania match since 2019, but it turns out the contest was in jeopardy of happening at all ahead of the event.
In a new Instagram post, Balor revealed that he sustained a grade two calf tear during the March 10 episode of WWE SmackDown when the Judgment Day defeated Legado Del Fantasma in a six-man tag team bout.
The former Universal Champion explained that the normal recovery time is six to eight weeks, but he said “hold my beer”, and WWE’s medical team helped him endure long rehab days within three weeks, so he was cleared just a day or two before the show. Finn wrote in the post:
On March 10th Ep of Smackdown I sustained a grade 2 calf tear.
Normal recovery time is estimated at 6-8 weeks.
Hold my beer!
With just 3 weeks & 2 days to Wrestlemania WWE medical team ‘threw the kitchen sink at it’ & with some careful planning, long days of rehab and a lot of swear words we made it back in time with a day or two spare!
My wife said it best. ‘This injury has been the Demon of your career, and you need to over come this Demon to Release YOUR DEMON at Wrestlemania’ @verolaguera
Special thanks to CJ for his incredible work ( and not taking a day off for 3 weeks)
Extra mention to @docholmes & @athleanx for all their support.
Despite the other Judgment Day members in prominent positions on the Raw After WrestleMania 39, Balor did not make an appearance after taking a con-chair-to to lose the Hell In A Cell match against Edge.
As previously reported, fellow Judgment Day member and SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley has seemingly switched brands following her win at WrestleMania 39.
