When AEW first launched back in 2019, many of the wrestlers who signed with the company had worked many independent dates along with their dates in AEW.
In recent months, while some AEW talent has been working independents, the number of AEW stars making independent appearances has seemingly decreased, leading to speculation that AEW had reduced the number of dates their talent could take.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), they haven’t heard anything about AEW reducing independent dates for their talent, but with AEW’s schedule expanding including House Rules live events, Ring of Honor and the rumoured upcoming Saturday night show, many of the talent would be more active in AEW on the weekends.
The increased AEW schedule would lead to the talents taking less independent dates.
There has been an update on AEW’s planned roster split between Dynamite and Collision, and who is set to be the top stars of Dynamite.
