WWE NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell was drafted to the Monday Night Raw roster on night one of the 2023 WWE Draft last Friday, which came as a shock to many.
Hartwell’s inclusion in the Draft was surprising not just because she is the current NXT Women’s Champion, but because she’s also currently injured.
Indi suffered an injury during her title match against Roxanne Perez and Tiffany Stratton in the main event of NXT Spring Breakin’ last Tuesday.
Hartwell injured her ankle during the match, which required her being taken to the back, before she returned to the ring to pin Roxanne to retain the title.
After the match, Indi shared photos of herself in a walking boot, including sporting one during Friday’s SmackDown, where she was on camera reacting to being drafted.
Indi took to her Instagram story today, where she shared a photo of her injury, showing off the bruising on her ankle from the match.
WWE reportedly had planned an alternate finish to the match, which would have seen Tiffany Stratton become the new NXT Women’s Champion, before reverting back to Hartwell retaining the title when she returned to finish the match.
