A new report has revealed the goal for WWE main roster stars appearing on the NXT brand.
On the May 30 episode of WWE NXT, “free agents” Mustafa Ali and Baron Corbin both appeared on the show. Ali helped make the save for Wes Lee and Tyler Bate against Joe Gacy and The Dyad. Meanwhile, Corbin attacked NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes to signal his pursuit for the gold.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that the goal for these appearances is to add interest in NXT and help refresh Ali and Corbin.
The report also notes that another goal is to assess the talent that they will be working with, and get experience for NXT talent with people who have worked main roster TV and style for quite a while.
As noted, Mustafa Ali and Baron Corbin will be working with stars, such as Carmelo Hayes and Wes Lee while on the developmental brand.
Ali and Corbin will continue working NXT, but it isn’t a completely permanent move, and can still appear on Raw and SmackDown as well.
Both stars will compete on the June 9 episode of SmackDown when Mustafa Ali faces Santos Escobar and Baron Corbin goes one-on-one with Butch in Money In The Bank qualifying matches.
