Following a record-setting SmackDown (July 7) at New York’s Madison Square Garden, WWE may be set to surprisingly make some major changes to future events in the famous arena.
With SmackDown becoming both WWE’s highest grossing MSG event ever, as well as the company’s highest grossing domestic SmackDown ever, some ambitious changes could be made to ensure more records can be broken.
According to Andrew Zarian on Twitter, WWE is planning to explore a different stage setup at future MSG shows, moving to a much smaller stage in order to allow for an increased capacity for fans.
Zarian pointed out that this change will heavily depend on early ticket sales for the event, however, given WWE’s recent tendency for shattering records this likely won’t be a problem.
Historically at older MSG events a much smaller entrance way has been used, directly ahead of the placement of the hard camera, so perhaps they could return to a similar set-up in the future at MSG.
This week’s SmackDown featured key chapters in the Bloodline saga, with the show both opening and closing with WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
After an emotionally captivating Tribal Court segment for Reigns that almost saw a new Tribal Chief coronated, Jey and primarily Jimmy were brutally beaten down by both Reigns and Solo Sikoa.
This led to Jimmy getting taken away in an ambulance, leading Jey Uso to later lay out a challenge to Reigns for his cherished Undisputed Championship.
Elsewhere on the show Grayson Waller competed in his main roster debut against Edge, a match that reportedly got a lot of people talking backstage regarding Waller’s impressive performance.

WWE will be considering running a much smaller stage set up in the future at MSG.
It will depend on early ticket sales. https://t.co/mTkZrRentq
