An update has emerged on a current champion’s WWE contract status, with this star’s contract set to expire soon.
Per Fightful Select, Ricochet’s WWE contract is set to expire this summer. This lines up with previous reports that Ricochet signed a five-year contract with WWE in 2019.
The report noted that Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp has been told by WWE sources that contract discussions are planned between WWE and Ricochet.
Fightful wrote that Ricochet is expected to get “heavy interest” if he does become a free agent.
Ricochet first joined the company in January 2018 as a member of the NXT roster, before moving to the main roster in February 2019.
He is the inaugural WWE Speed Champion, with the high-flyer winning the gold on the May 3 WWE Speed episode.
Several other stars’ contracts will be up soon, including Chad Gable’s. The former Olympian’s current deal is set to expire next week.
Former Women’s World Champion Becky Lynch is set to become a free agent before then, with her WWE contract expiring this weekend.
