It was recently reported that WWE had shown interest in bringing former NXT star Sarray (Sareee) back to the company.
However, that won’t be happening, as Sareee was announced as signing a ‘multi-year’ deal with American Joshi promotion Sukeban.
It was reported last week by PWInsider that Sareee was in ‘deep negotiations’ for a return to America for a promotion that wasn’t WWE, which has now been confirmed.
WWE’s interest in Sarray was initially reported by Fightful Select (subscription required), and they have since provided an update on the situation.
WWE sources contacted Fightful, indicating that they were interested in possibly bringing her back to the company, and had started to work on it.
The interest didn’t end up going far, as she signed with Sukeban, and the sources clarified that there was no offer on the table, and that they did not think that she would be willing to relocate to the United States again.
On Sarray signing with Sukeban, one WWE source said:
“There’s no ill will on our side. We didn’t think she’d end up back here, there were no creative plans set for her, and she wasn’t contacted.
“Her name was mentioned, and she was liked within the company, so there were some preliminary things discussed about trying to bring her back. This deal probably works out better for her.”
Sarray’s return rumours came after Kairi Sane made her return to the company at Crown Jewel, aiding IYO SKY against Bianca Belair.
Another major Japanese women’s star may be on their way into the company, which you can read about here.
