Two WWE stars have received name changes yet again following their recent returns to the main roster on SmackDown.
Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo re-joined the SmackDown roster following their appearance on the December 22 edition of SmackDown, aligning themselves with Santos Escobar and helping Escobar to advance in the US Title Tournament.
While the duo initially kept their names following their return, it was pointed out following the January 5 show that the Los Lotharios teammates lost their last names in a graphic shared by WWE, with the duo referred to as “Angel & Humberto”.
WWE has now confirmed these name changes, changing Angel and Humberto’s WWE.com profiles to show that Angel Garza is now officially just Angel, and Humberto Carrillo is just Humberto.
Angel and Humberto notably gained their last names back during their recent stint with NXT.
It was previously common for wrestlers to have their names shortened or changed from their real/pre-WWE names under the Vince McMahon regime.
While the likes of Austin Theory have regained names with Triple H overseeing creative, Angel and Humberto have proven that name-shortening isn’t strictly a McMahon era change.
It has been heavily speculated that another NXT star could soon join Santos Escobar’s Legado World Order group, which you can read more about right here.
Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo have officially had their names changed BACK to just 'Angel' and 'Humberto' after returning to #SmackDown.
