WWE’s John Cena has named the stars that he considers to be his “soulmates” in the world of wrestling, with Cody Rhodes among them.

Having recently turned back face ahead of SummerSlam, the recent Premium Live Event saw Cody Rhodes recapture the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Speaking to the Boston Herald, John Cena would reflect on the shine of Cody Rhodes when it came to his list of soulmates, having crossed paths with them all in his career, saying:

“I have a few wrestling soulmates. Those are Randy Orton, Edge (currently Adam Copeland in AEW), CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles.

“But gosh, I can’t take any shine away from Cody Rhodes – add him, too.”

Rhodes addressed his match after SummerSlam, noting that sharing John Cena’s final run is “really special“.

Cena and Orton were both graduates of the OVW Class of 2002, moving up to the main roster within months of each other in that year.

In comments made back in April, Seth Rollins stated that John Cena was one of his “favorite people in the world”, sharing advice that the veteran had offered him about cutting promos on television.

After a career that saw him inducted into the Hall of Fame long before he parted ways with the company, Edge would leave WWE in September 2023, making his AEW debut on October 1 of that year.

With John Cena’s in-ring career winding down as his retirement year progresses, he is set to face Logan Paul at WWE Clash in Paris on August 31.
