10 Big Stars Who Used To Wrestle Under Masks

3. Hiromu Takahashi – Kamaitachi

Many fans were surprised when Hiromu Takahashi returned to New Japan Pro Wrestling using his real name. During his excursion with CMLL and Ring of Honor, he wrestled as Kamaitachi. For a good portion of that run, he wore a mask.

Kamaitachi is the name of a weasel-like mythical creature in Japanese culture, perhaps explaining the eyes, ears, fur and teeth of Takahashi’s mask. While the mask was cool, it did not last and Hiromu returned to New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2016.

2. Orange Cassidy – Fire Ant

It may surprise you to know, but Orange Cassidy does occasionally show energy. While using the Fire Ant gimmick in CHIKARA, Cassidy showed that he was capable of pulling off great matches. He is now best known for his work in AEW as the sloth-like lazy wrestler, but his work as Fire Ant also speaks for itself.

Another member of The Colony alongside Drew Gulak, as mentioned earlier, Fire Ant was the leader of the group and often competed for top titles in CHIKARA. With the promotion now defunct it is unlikely we will ever seen Orange Cassidy don the antennas again.

1. Ricochet (again) – Helios

Bringin him back for one you probably hadn’t heard of. Many fans are aware of Ricochet’s work as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground, but you may not know that this was not the first time he wore a mask in the ring. In the early days of his career, Ricochet worked for CHIKARA as Helios.

Under the gimmick, he entered to a heavy metal version of Here Comes The Sun before wowing fans with his aerial abilities. He was not nearly as refined as you might see him now, but for a time Helios was an appropriate way for Ricochet to develop his skills in the ring.
