10 WWE Alternate History Outcomes And Consequences

3. Triple H Ends Undertaker’s Streak at WrestleMania 28

Nuclear heat. That’s the sensation Triple H would have experienced had he ended the Undertaker’s unbeaten streak when they went head-to-head inside hell in a cell at WrestleMania 28.

When Brock Lesnar actually did end the streak at WrestleMania 30, it was a shock, and left many with a bad taste in their mouths. Had Triple H done it, the effects would have been worse. Looking back, there’s every reason to expect that the man who calls himself ‘the King of Kings’ would have been the one to do it. ‘Taker even had a way out, considering Shawn Michaels was named guest referee for the match.

While he is praised nowadays for his work in NXT, Hunter’s past is somewhat romanticized. Fans were not exactly clamoring for him to rack up victories well into the 2010’s. The guy rarely lost, even when it would have made sense to do so. Booker T, Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Mick Foley, Brock Lesnar, Dean Ambrose. These are names of guys he probably should have put over in various instances.

Adding Undertaker’s name to that list of victims at their ‘End of an Era’ match would have been one of the most poorly-received booking decisions at a WrestleMania. It also would have meant that Triple H’s in-ring career would have extended well beyond his physical prime. As the man who conquered ‘The Phenom,’ Hunter would have probably transitioned into another long run on top, meaning he would have spent less time at a job he is very good at, overseeing NXT. Developmental would suffer as a result, and more people than ever would be waiting for the Game’s era to end.
