5 Potential Challengers If Keith Lee Wins NXT ‘Winner Takes All’ Match

2. Timothy Thatcher

Speaking of unstoppable newcomers, Timothy Thatcher has already had a championship-caliber run just two months into his NXT career.

Originally filling in for Pete Dunne in NXT Tag Team Championship matches, Thatcher held his own as a surrogate titleholder. After making a statement at the expense of partner Matt Riddle, Thatcher has yet to pick a new target.

His proficiency for mat-based grappling would clash with Lee’s powerful offence, providing Lee with a unique challenge. A contest that would no doubt be brutal, neither man would be willing to concede the chance to sit atop NXT.

1. Finn Bálor

To earn an NXT Championship shot last December, Finn Bálor pinned Keith Lee in a Triple Threat match. To retain his North American Championship last Wednesday, Lee pinned Finn Bálor also in a three-way contest.

With both athletes having each other’s number, a rubber match is needed to decide who is the superior competitor.

Bálor would be more than qualified to challenge the winner of the ‘Winner Takes All’ bout. The second-longest reigning NXT Champion of all time, the Irishman is arguably responsible for taking NXT to where it is today.

After pinning Bálor in a multiman contest, Lee would be eager to repeat this feat in a decisive singles match.

Two of NXT’s most popular roster members ever clashing over a gold brand championship would become the talk of the wrestling world. Lee vs. Bálor would have the potential to be one of the biggest matches in NXT history.
