WWE Backlash 2026 will be the first premium live event following the two-night WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
From Tampa, Florida, the company has assembled an intriguing card, but there could be some new arrivals to WWE coming in on May 9.
From stars from other promotions to high profile names that are available, these potential new signings could add a great deal to the current landscape for WWE immediately.
Here are six potential new WWE signings at Backlash 2026.
6. Blake Monroe
Signing with WWE in June 2025, Blake Monroe made her presence known on the NXT brand.
After becoming a top star and former NXT Women’s North American Champion, Monroe became the latest talent to sign with the main roster following WrestleMania 42.
The former Mariah May has been advertised for her arrival on Friday Night SmackDown in recent weeks.
WWE Backlash 2026 might be the site for Monroe to announce herself as the newest signing to SmackDown and immediately place her in a top spot on the main roster.
5. Kairi Sane
On April 24, WWE had its latest round of talent cuts with 29 wrestlers being released from the promotion.
To the shock of the wrestling world, Kairi Sane was part of these recent releases despite being a regular presence on WWE TV alongside Asuka in the Kabuki Warriors.
At WWE Backlash 2026, ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ will go one-on-one with IYO SKY in a story that feels much different now after the release of Sane.
With the fans chanting for her and rumors circulating about her potential surprise appearance at the show, WWE Backlash 2026 could be the night that Kairi returns as the newest signing with the company realizing they made a mistake.
4. Mr. Iguana
In 2025, WWE acquired Lucha Libre AAA, which has led to several stars from the promotion appearing on the company’s programming.
One of the most featured talents from AAA that has made several appearances is Mr Iguana.
WWE could announce that Iguana is now the newest signing to the company with his potential surprise at Backlash 2026.
With Danhausen needing a tag team partner for his bout against The Miz and Kit Wilson, there might not be anyone more fitting to team with the ‘Very Nice, Very Evil’ star than Mr Iguana.
3. Mike Santana
Another star from another promotion that has made regular appearances on WWE TV is Mike Santana.
The current TNA World Champion has appeared on several occasions on WWE NXT thanks to the company’s partnership with the brand.
Giving him a shot on the WWE main roster, Santana could become someone that the company might consider signing to a dual contract.
With his impressive in-ring ability, character work and talking skills, Santana could arrive and announce his official signing with WWE at the Backlash 2026 premium live event.
2. Hiromu Takahashi
In February, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that Hiromu Takahashi was set to leave the promotion after a 15-year run.
The five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion has been one of the best wrestlers on the NJPW roster for years and someone who can be a valuable asset for any promotion in the world.
After recent reports about his signing, WWE Backlash 2026 might be the right time for Takahashi to make his first appearance for the company.
Takahashi making his way to WWE would certainly be a memorable moment that fans will never forget from the Backlash 2026 PLE.
1. Zilla Fatu
At WWE Backlash 2026, Jacob Fatu will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.
With these two cousins battling for the top prize in WWE, it has become a story built around family business and drama.
Fatu is looking to get everything that comes with being the World Heavyweight Champion and has heavily involved his cousins The Usos in the story.
Considering The Bloodline has reunited, ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ could call upon his cousin Zilla Fatu to make his WWE debut and show up for his family at Backlash 2026 to help Jacob win his first world title on May 9.
