WWE/AEW
Over the past few years, there have been various former WWE NXT stars who have made the move to AEW.
From Tommaso Ciampa to Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly, WWE NXT has produced some talents that have gone on to further make their name in AEW.
Looking at the current WWE NXT roster, there could be some other names that have what it takes to make an impact in Tony Khan’s promotion.
Here are six WWE NXT stars to potentially join AEW.
6. Mason Rook
On the April 28 edition of WWE NXT, Mason Rook made his debut with the company with an attack on NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo.
Formerly known as Will Kroos, Rook has been a force to be reckoned with in the NXT brand.
With his combination of size and agility, Rook is someone who will always stand out among the pack of young talented competitors on NXT.
Considering his background on the independent scene and in Japan, it makes sense if Rook one day made his way to AEW where his in-ring ability would be rewarded more.
5. Romeo Moreno
Another newer WWE star who would not look out of place in All Elite Wrestling is Romeo Moreno.
During his time on the independent scene in Europe, Moreno, then known as Zozaya, wowed audiences with his speed, agility and versatility inside the squared circle.
At 23 years old, Moreno has his entire career ahead of him and is already showing the world just how good he is right now.
While he has a solid chance to have a successful career in WWE, Moreno would feel like a natural addition to the AEW roster who could deliver showstealers with the likes of Bandido, Mascara Dorada and Will Ospreay.
4. Sean Legacy
In 2024, WWE announced their ID program where they signed independent wrestlers to give them access to the company as a gateway to the Performance Center.
One of the first signings for the WWE ID program was a nine-year veteran, Sean Legacy.
Since his signing, Legacy has showcased his athleticism and intensity inside the ring on WWE Evolve and NXT.
While he has shined on NXT so far, Legacy could do the same or maybe even better mixing it up with the top talent in AEW.
3. Brooks Jensen
In 2021, WWE NXT underwent a rebranding where they became known as 2,0 with the brand going more with developmental talent moving forward.
One of the first stars introduced during this period was Brooks Jensen, who formed a partnership with Josh Briggs at the time. Over the years, Jensen has undergone a lot of ups and downs.
Now five years later, Jensen is mostly featured on WWE Evolve and does not seem to be progressing at the same speed of his former NXT 2.0 peers.
Considering his student of the game approach and his tape study on social media, Jensen seems like someone who could be motivated to prove naysayers wrong by leaving NXT and joining AEW to work a style that he enjoys a little more.
2. Saquon Shugars
DarkState has become one of the most prominent factions in all of WWE NXT right now.
However, Dion Lennox, Osiris Griffin and Cutler James excommunicated Saquon Shugars from DarkState with a three-on-one beatdown on the May 19 episode of WWE NXT.
Since then, Shugars is getting an individual spotlight and has set his sights on getting revenge on DarkState moving forward.
Considering his indie background working in promotions like DPW, Shugars has former opponents and rivals in AEW that would make him an ideal addition to the roster if he were to ever leave WWE.
1. Kendal Grey
Kendal Grey has become one of the fastest rising stars in all of WWE NXT today.
Over the past year, Grey is a former Evolve Women’s Champion, Iron Survivor winner and has showcased her technical ability inside the squared circle.
Grey seems destined for great things and has all the makings for the next NXT Women’s Champion.
While she will more than likely have a bright future in WWE, Kendal’s in-ring ability is beyond her years in the ring, making a match for what AEW likes to offer and allowing her fresh opponents like Mercedes Mone, Thekla and Kris Statlander.
