AEW
On the October 3 episode of AEW Collision, the main event of WrestleDream 2026 will be the Clockwork Carnage Match for the AEW World Title.
All Elite Wrestling explained the rules for this match created by Will Ospreay will see eight wrestlers with two stages and one winner.
There will be eliminations until all eight participants enter the bout. After all competitors enter, the second stage begins where it will be a 15-minute Iron Man match with the participant with the most falls wins the entire match.
While these rules were properly stated, there was some confusion amongst fans on social media.
However, this stipulation was just introduced in Pro Wrestling: EVE at their Global Thunder Queens Attack show on October 2.
Looking at this first iteration of the match, there is a lot to learn that will help fans understand ahead of AEW WrestleDream 2026.
Elements of AEW’s Casino Gauntlet & WWE’s Royal Rumble

This bout starts out with two competitors in the ring and every three minutes, a new participant enters the matchup.
The start of this stipulation is very similar to AEW’s Casino Gauntlet and WWE’s Royal Rumble.
The unpredictability of which competitor is coming out next brings excitement.
Rivalries can be progressed in Clockwork Carnage
At EVE 155: Global Thunder Queens Attack, Clockwork Carnage started with rivals Rhio and Hollie Barlow.
Rhio is a former EVE Champion and a dominant persona inside the squared circle, while Barlow is the consummate underdog who recently scored a pinfall win over Rhio in a tag team match and has been attacked several times by her because of that.
This brought another element to what can enhance this bout and provide opportunities for feuds to progress in a natural way.
AEW could try to do the same thing by having two stars with history start out the match.
Multiple stars able to stand out in the stipulation

In EVE, the match saw Hollie later eliminate Rhio after other competitors entered the match, further telling the story being told between the two.
Elsewhere, Kay Lee Ray and Emersyn Jayne reignited their rivalry, and Alexxis Falcon showed her great heel character.
Meanwhile, both Molly Spartan and Lucy Deathmatch displayed their bruising hoss styles.
This showed how every star included in the match could gain something from this match type.
AEW’s answer to Iron Survivor
The Iron Survivor Match has become one of the signature stipulations in WWE NXT.
The five-person, 25-minute Iron Man style match features competitors trying to score falls throughout with the winner being the star with the most points.
While there are penalty boxes included, it feels like AEW is doing their version of it with the second stage of Clockwork Carnage.
Like NXT’s Iron Survivor, the clock adds a different story element that can keep fans on the edge of their seat the entire duration of the bout.
Final verdict

Pro Wrestling: EVE taught fans that the Clockwork Carnage can offer so many different things that can make the bout stand out in a significant way.
With the stars on the AEW roster, there are ways to create a huge amount of chaos as well as twists and turns to give everyone the spotlight.
The confusion around this match will feel minor when fans actually see it done in execution.
After EVE 155, I now have all the faith that Clockwork Carnage should prove to be an instant hit and become one of the best stipulations introduced at AEW WrestleDream.
