Former WWE Stars To Join AEW

A number of big name former WWE stars could be on their way to AEW as the promotion heads towards the third All In London event at Wembley Stadium.

Looking to make headlines with that show, expect to see some of the recently released WWE talents make the move to AEW in the coming weeks.

Here are five former WWE stars who could potentially join AEW.

5. Kairi Sane

Kairi Sane was one of the more confusing  names on the list of WWE departures a few months ago, as she was in the middle of a pretty big storyline with Asuka and IYO SKY at the time.

There were reports that Sane wanted out so she could return to Japan, but she later somewhat refuted that idea.

Someone missing from the AEW All In London card right now is former Women’s World Champion Thekla, who has essentially been in a feud with the STARDOM promotion and could face one of its representatives at Wembley.

Sane coming in to be that STARDOM representative would make plenty of sense and add another big women’s match to the card on August 30.

4. Bayley

It doesn’t seem like Bayley will be in AEW in time for All In since it’s only a couple of weeks away, but there are an increasing number of signs that she could be heading to the promotion soon.

Bayley has been off WWE TV for a few weeks now, with the company seemingly waiting for her to sign a new contract before bringing her back.

However, the longer she goes without signing a new contract, the more likely it is that she goes to AEW – where her close friend Mercedes Mone is waiting, having already teased a match between the two with a fake graphic for WrestleDream on social media.

She may end up staying with WWE, but Bayley did post a video with the song All In attached, which people in WWE will likely have noticed…

3. Kofi Kingston

Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston left the company alongside his New Day tag team partner Xavier Woods a few months ago.

The duo were reportedly asked to agree to revised contracts with a pay cut, which they refused to do.

It now seems inevitable that they’ll be heading to AEW and making their debut either before or at All In London.

Unable to use the name Kofi Kingston, it appears he could go by the name KSM – his real life initials – going forward.

2. Xavier Woods

If Kofi Kingston is AEW bound, nailed on to join him is his record breaking tag team partner and 2021 King of the Ring, Xavier Woods.

Like Kingston, Woods won’t be able to use his WWE name in AEW, and looks likely to use the Austin Creed name from his pre-WWE days and the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel.

AEW has a generational tag team match lined up for All In with Adam Copeland & Christian Cage facing the Young Bucks, which dould be the perfect place to bring New Day in.

With FTR to return, the recent debut of the Motor City Machine Guns, New Day coming in, and all the other teams already in the promotion, AEW is building an all timer of a tag team division – at a time that WWE’s is a complete mess.

1. Sheamus

Potentially the biggest potential pickup for AEW who’s now available after leaving WWE is Sheamus.

Much like New Day, Sheamus was offered a revised WWE deal that he refused to sign, and has since rebranded himself as S Farrelly – his real name being Stephen Farrelly – and looks to be staying in the pro-wrestling business.

Sheamus is an instantly recognizable WWE star who could benefit AEW in a ton of ways, not just in the ring, but with things like marketing and exposure as well.

Plus, being from Ireland, London’s Wembley Stadium would be a very close to perfect place for him to make his debut – unless AEW has an Ireland show coming up any time soon.
