A TNA Hall of Famer and independent wrestling veteran has commented on the possibility of him signing with WWE, or another major company.
While Amazing Red is best known for his runs in ROH, TNA, and on the independent scene, the star has wrestled two dark matches for WWE, with the first being against CM Punk before Velocity in 2005.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Amazing Red recalled almost competing in the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic tournament, noting:
“I’m super hyped. This is it. This is finally what this whole thing paid off for. I knew as soon as I stepped foot in any of these matches, confidently, I’m getting signed.
“That was just a thing, and maybe it probably was the idea for them also. So it’s about to show up, the Cruiserweight Classic, and I get hit up about doing the 2K video game, and that was one of my dreams at the at the time to be in the video game and do mocap.
“I thought that was one of my dreams. Doing this job sucks so bad. I would never do mocap for anything.”
The three-time TNA X Division Champion went on to recall breaking his leg during a WWE video game mocap session.
When asked if he believes there’s a chance he could go to WWE now, Amazing Red commented on his desire to sign a contract somewhere, noting:
“I’m hoping. Like I said, WWE, AEW, TNA, if everything aligns well and we can work out something, I would be happy to be a part of anything.
“Yeah (he wants a contract somewhere), I want to be taken care of. I feel like a lot of people in this industry respect me, and they want to be around whatever ideas we have.
“I feel like it should be a reality at this point because it’s so humbling and cool to hear people say stuff, but I gotta see it. I appreciate everybody, but I’ve never seen it in pro wrestling where it kind of blessed me back.”
Interestingly, Amazing Red defeated Zilla Fatu for the Crown Jewel Championship at HOG High Intensity in what turned out to be Zilla’s final match before making his WWE debut on the August 11 NXT episode.
