A relatively new SmackDown star has teased a match against WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, noting that she’s waiting for her to return.

Ripley is currently out of action, now having had knee surgery after recently suffering an injury.

Speaking with Love Wrestling in an interview recorded during SummerSlam week, Blake Monroe noted that she is waiting for Rhea Ripley to come back because she “just wants to say hi”.

Believing Ripley is scared of her, Monroe said:

“All I want to say is, I debuted and shortly after, Rhea Ripley got a boo boo. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. I think she’s a little scared. I’m actually kind of waiting for Rhea to come back.

“I haven’t actually met you in real life, Rhea, and I’d love to. I’m the new girl, I’m foreign like you, I came here with a dream. I just want to say hi.”

Rhea Ripley last wrestled at the June 3 house show in Portugal, teaming with Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton to put away Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid of Fatal Influence.

Her most recent televised match saw her defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy on May 31.

An interim WWE Women’s Champion has been crowned since then, with Chelsea Green unhooking the title in a ladder match at SummerSlam.

Unfortunately, Green suffered an injury herself on the following episode of SmackDown, later confirming that she was dealing with a broken orbital bone.

While it is currently unclear how long Green will be out of action for, WWE would be wise to push Blake Monroe while several other top stars are absent.

While Blake Monroe made her SmackDown TV debut on the June 27 episode, she has yet to wrestle a televised match for the brand.

The former NXT North American Champion recently pitched a female legend killer gimmick, naming the Bella Twins and Paige as stars for her to potentially retire.
