Former WWE Star Comments On Potential Return & Baron Corbin Reunion

With Baron Corbin now back in WWE, a former star and tag team partner has shared his thoughts on following suit with a return.

Parting ways with WWE in November 2024, Baron Corbin would enter the independent wrestling scene before making his return to the company on the July 10 episode of SmackDown this year.

During his independent wrestling run, Corbin would re-emerge as Bishop Dyer, heading to MLW and teaming with former WWE star Dijak as The Skyscrapers.

With Dijak having sent a message of support following Corbin’s return to WWE, the possibility of a comeback of his own and a reunion with his tag team partner was floated in a recent interview.

Speaking on Not Just A Hat Rack, Dijak shared his thoughts on potentially returning to WWE and reuniting with Baron Corbin, saying:

“I certainly be open to it under the right and correct circumstances

“In terms of the Skyscrapers IP, I don’t know who owns that. I presume MLW has some sort of ownership of it. I don’t know how. Maybe it expired, and they renewed it or something like that. I have no idea.

“I mean, like, WWE obviously owns the WCW library… I’m not great with intellectual property law, but I’d certainly love to keep working with him.

“The amount of time we got to work together was unfortunately a little too brief. In that short amount of time, we were able to do some cool stuff, but the reality was it was only about a year, and MLW only runs about once a month, so we probably only had twelve or thirteen matches together.

“Yeah, I certainly hope there’s more in the future. I don’t know what company that might be with but I’m open to any possibility.”

Since his return, Baron Corbin has gone on to become WWE United States Champion, defeating Trick Williams at SummerSlam and later indicating the championship will be redesigned.

The Skyscrapers were a WCW tag team that initially featured Dan Spivey and Sid Vicious, with both stars being billed at 6 ft 8 in tall. “Mean” Mark Callous would go on to be the third member, long before he would be known to WWE fans as The Undertaker. With the departure of Spivey, Mike Enos would be added to the faction as “The Masked Skyscraper, with Callous later departing WCW and Spivey returning in 1990 for that year’s Starrcade.

MLW filed a trademark application for The Skyscrapers on July 8 of last year, with that filing listed as “Pending” as of April 21 2026 and a “notice of letter of suspension” issued by the USPTO.

Making The Most Of Messy WWE Creative

With a billed height of 6 ft 7 in and a look that cemented his star status, Dominik Dijakovic was arguably made to be a WWE talent.

Signed to the company in late 2017, Dijakovic would head to NXT, and while championships would elude him, his presence would be felt across the years before a main roster call-up in 2020.

It was that call-up that perhaps didn’t pan out as may have been expected for the star, with Dijakovic repackaged as T-Bar, a masked member of Retribution. Led by Mustafa Ali, the demise of the faction was previously discussed by the TNA Wrestling star, who described the lack of a “why” for its existence as a fatal flaw.

Dijak would reflect upon this himself, noting that there was a sense of “we don’t know” when it came to the trajectory of his debut and inclusion in Retribution. This didn’t mean that the star was without purpose, continuing to work with what he was given, alongside Ali, Mace (Dio Maddin or ma.çé, depending on which side of Retribution you look), Slapjack (Shane Thorne), Reckoning (Mia Yim or Michin) and Retaliation (Mercedes Martinez).

Finishing his WWE career in NXT, T-Bar would be gone, and Dijak would emerge, returning to the star to a more intense character that he had previously excelled at delivering.

It was something he would take to the independent wrestling scene after deciding to not renew his WWE contract in 2024, performing as Donovan Dijak, the name he’d used in his career before signing that 2017 deal.
