WWE Legend Comments On Zilla Fatu Debut

A WWE legend has commented on the recent debut of Zilla Fatu and shared areas of concern with the newly signed NXT star.

Having been seen at the WWE Performance Center during yesterday, Zilla Fatu made his presence felt on the August 11 episode of NXT.

Interfering in the match to determine the number one contender to the NXT Championship, Fatu attacked both Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana, before setting his sights on the current holder of the title, Tony D’Angelo.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray shared his thoughts on the debut, before exploring areas of concern for the young star, saying:

“Zilla f**kin’ Fatu is in NXT. Holy Schnikies!

“Cruz and Grayson were having a really strong match and, out of nowhere, Zilla Fatu… huge, real big for NXT.

“Zilla Fatu stirs up controversy no matter where he goes, no matter where he wrestles. But, Zilla has shown up and he has made his presence known, starting controversy right off the bat in NXT tonight.

“Lots and lots and lots of upside to Zilla Fatu, but can Zilla keep his attitude in check, keep his ego in check, be professional and not be so much of a loose cannon and so rebellious?

“But, overall, real positive first night in NXT for Zilla.”

Fatu’s arrival was met with less enthusiasm from Waller, who tweeted that the star was “another overrated Uce.”

The Rapid Rise Of Zilla Fatu

Making his in-ring debut at Reality of Wrestling Summer of Champions IX in July 2023, Booker T would describe the young star in bold terms, declaring that “you could feel” the spirit of Umaga. A two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, Umaga is the late father of Zilla Fatu.

Since his debut on the independent wrestling scene, speculation swirled that Zilla Fatu would be WWE bound, being a member of The Bloodline. Fatu joins a crop of current Bloodline members to be on the WWE roster, many of whom started in NXT.

Fatu’s presence on the independent wrestling scene has seen him hold multiple championships, recently dropping the HOG Crown Jewel Championship to The Amazing Red, bringing an end to his second reign. It’s likely that the championship goals will continue in NXT, particularly with the staredown with Tony D’Angelo.

Very much like Solo Sikoa before him, Zilla Fatu starts in NXT and separate from the main roster Bloodline stars, yet is likely going to be drawn in that direction in the future.

In the meantime, he gets to hone the skills he brings with him from the independent wrestling circuit, with NXT serving its purpose as a feeder to the main roster.
