Rey Mysterio has addressed Roman Reigns’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship defense set for September 14, reminding fans that anything can happen.

Reigns will put his gold on the line on Raw in Mexico City against the winner of an ongoing tournament featuring luchadores from Raw, SmackDown and AAA.

With Penta, Laredo Kid, La Parka, Psycho Clown, Dragon Lee, El Hijo De Dr Wagner Jr, Rey Fenix and El Fiscal competing for this title shot, Rey Mysterio has commented on the prize that awaits the winner.

Speaking on WWE Now, Mysterio noted:

“With the position I have now as the GM of AAA, the best thing that I could’ve thought of is, how could I get opportunities to the up-and-coming greatest luchadores of right now, the ones that are rising?

“What better way than to speak to the OTC and convince him to put his Heavyweight Title on the line? Of course it would have to be with someone who is very respected and someone willing to earn that spot. That’s how this tournament all came about.

“I truly believe this is the opportunity of a lifetime as anything can happen, as we’ve seen over the years in wrestling. Titles have been switched overnight, so you never know what could happen.

“May the best luchador in this competition win, because then he will be able to represent Mexico at its fullest.”
