UFC Star Training For WWE Debut?

A UFC star was at the WWE Performance Center according to a recent report, having previously cut a promo on Raw.

In February 2024, Michael Chandler was ringside at WWE Raw and cut a promo, calling out Conor McGregor, later revealing the decision to let him speak was “last minute“.

While little would be seen of the UFC star following that appearance, it now appears that Chandler could be working his way towards a WWE debut.

According to False Finish, sources initially indicated that Chandler was “at the WWE Performance Center” today, with a later tweet noting that he “was doing some ring work”.

Chandler had previously stated that WWE were aware of his interest in an in-ring appearance, going so far as to name Logan Paul as a potential opponent.

Logan Paul has recently drawn the attention of Tom Brady, with the pair getting physical at a past appearance.  Addressing the possibility of Brady in WWE, The Miz reflected on what the success of the social media influencer and what the NFL star would have to bring to the party.

At the time of writing, details of the future of Chandler in WWE are yet to emerge, although the star had previously revealed details of conversations with Triple H.

The Logan Paul Effect

When it comes to attracting attention, Logan Paul has demonstrated, over the years, that he’s a master when it comes to publicity outside of the influencer sphere that he has arguably dominated.

His rise as a WWE star has been nothing short of remarkable, turning the typical “celebrity star” dynamic on its head through his commitment to his work as a full-time star, even while injured.

Using Paul as a lightning rod for celebrity guests clearly has mileage for WWE, with the influencer comfortable with the persona he presents. It potentially takes away some of the character work needed from those outside of WWE when it comes to being the “good guy” when your opponent is a heel as gifted as Paul has been during his run with the company.

With no news as to when Chandler could make an in-ring debut, if that is indeed the plan for the UFC star, it’s far too early to say whether Logan Paul would be an ideal fit. There’s plenty of other opportunities outside of Paul, however, depending on the nature of the story being told.

Chandler’s past comments about contract talks with Triple H revealed that the star is a “fan of WWE” with hopes that the door will be open on both sides.

WWE bringing in stars from other fields is far from a new thing, particularly when it comes to the world of mixed martial arts. Perhaps the most high-profile name of recent years to come to the men’s roster with past UFC experience has been Brock Lesnar, who recently confirmed his in-ring retirement.
