CM Punk Announced For Upcoming WWE NXT Appearance

Current Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk has been announced for an upcoming appearance for WWE NXT this weekend.

CM Punk made his return to WWE television on the July 6 episode of Raw in his hometown of Chicago, where he faced off with Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event, picking up the win and capturing the title.

Following the match, Punk has reigned as champion on SmackDown, with him retaining the title against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam following the return of Randy Orton, and him set for an upcoming clash with Kevin Owens on the August 21 episode of SmackDown in Toronto.

With Punk busy on the SmackDown brand, and likely set for an upcoming appearance at the Worlds Collide event in Chicago next month, he is making sure to keep himself even more occupied, as he has now been announced for an upcoming NXT appearance.

CM Punk Set To Make NXT Live Event Appearance In Petersburg, Virginia

It was announced earlier today that the Undisputed WWE Champion would be appearing at this weekend’s NXT live event in Petersburg, Virginia.

Punk was not announced as wrestling on the show, with him likely set to just take part in a promo segment on the show.

Shawn Michaels commented on the announcement of Punk’s upcoming NXT appearance, saying:

There’s nothing quite like the energy of #WWENXT Live… especially when @CMPunk is in the building! See you Saturday, Petersburg.

Grayson Waller recently made his return to the NXT brand, with Punk himself commenting on his ‘pipebomb’ promo upon returning to the brand.

A New NXT Champion To Be Crowned Soon?

After 4 years on the NXT brand, Tony D’Angelo finally captured the NXT Championship for the first time back at Stand & Deliver, completing his grand slam on the developmental brand.

However, it seems as though Tony’s reign as champion may come to an end soon, as a recent influx of top stars have arrived on NXT with their eyes on the throne.

From the arrival of Cruz Montana to the return of Grayson Waller, tomorrow night’s NXT show will see the two face off for the right to challenge for the NXT Championship, with the winner of the match likely set to challenge D’Angelo for the title at Heatwave.
