Cody Rhodes & Oba Femi To Challenge For WWE World Tag Team Championship

WWE has announced that Cody Rhodes & Oba Femi are set to challenge for the World Tag Team Championship this Friday.

Back in July, The Vision began their second reign as World Tag Team Championship, when Bron Breakker and Austin Theory would defeat the Street Profits to regain the World Tag Team Championship thanks to Maxxine Dupri’s involvement.

Coming out of SummerSlam, Bron Breakker has turned his attention to Oba Femi, with the two future stars set for a collision course to determine who is the true future of WWE.

Cody Rhodes & Oba Femi To Challenge For World Tag Team Championship In SmackDown Dark Match

In recent weeks, Oba Femi has been appearing in Dark matches and segments on both Raw and SmackDown, and WWE has now announced another big dark match for the Ruler.

On social media today, WWE announced that Oba Femi will team with Cody Rhodes to face off against Austin Theory and Logan Paul of the Vision for the World Tag Team Championship at this Friday’s WWE SmackDown taping in Boston.

The match will be a dark match taking place on the show, and will not air on the broadcast itself.

This week’s SmackDown show will feature three championship matches on the show itself, with Jacy Jayne challenging Tiffany Stratton for the Women’s United States Championship, Carmelo Hayes challenging Baron Corbin for the United States Championship and Damian Priest & R-Truth defending the WWE Tag Team Championship against both the War Raiders and the MFTs.

How Many Championship Changes Will We See On SmackDown?

With three title matches set for this week’s SmackDown show, the argument could be made that every single one should result in a title change.

Baron Corbin’s United States Championship victory over Trick Williams ultimately felt like a transitional one, and with him defending against Carmelo Hayes in Melo’s hometown, the stars have already aligned for a title change this Friday.

For the Women’s United States Championship, Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green are almost certainly set for a collision course in the future, and Tiffany dropping the United States Title to Jacy Jayne would be a good way to firmly cement Fatal Influence as an act on SmackDown, with all it’s members holding gold.

As for the WWE Tag Team Championship, the MFTs just got more firepower with Haku in their corner, and it’s hard to imagine WWE beating them in their first match since the legend aligned with his sons.
