The WWE tag team division has been lacking in depth over the past year or so.

This led to recent reports and rumors about the company looking to create new teams.

From main event level talent teaming to not featured stars coming together in a unit, there is some interesting possibility for the tag team division in WWE moving forward.

Here are seven new potential WWE tag teams.

7. Cody Rhodes & Oba Femi

Back at the December 13 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Oba Femi vs. Cody Rhodes went to a no contest thanks to interference from Drew McIntyre.

This left things unsettled between Rhodes and Femi coming out of the event last year.

However, WWE announced that Rhodes and Femi will step in the ring this time as teammates on a live event.

Following their match with World Tag Team Champions The Vision, this could set up Oba and Cody to be a pairing for the foreseeable future.

6. Sol Ruca & IYO SKY

On the August 10 episode of Monday Night Raw, Sol Ruca and IYO SKY defeated The Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez.

When Ruca first arrived on the WWE main roster, one of her first opponents was IYO SKY.

“The Genius of the Sky” is coming off the heels of a loss to Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam 2026.

Considering that loss and Ruca losing the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title, it makes sense for IYO to come together with Sol to take over the women’s tag team division.

5. Carmelo Hayes & Ilja Dragunov

Throughout their time in WWE, Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes have been rivals and friends.

During their time in WWE NXT, Hayes and Dragunov feuded over the NXT Championship.

Then in 2025, Melo took the United States Championship from Dragunov and had several memorable matches.

With both men on the sidelines more often than not as of late, Dragunov and Melo pairing up helps two up-and-coming stars be highlighted in the WWE tag team scene.

4. Giulia & Jordynne Grace

Another pair of underutilized WWE talents on the roster right now are Giulia and Jordynne Grace.

During their time on WWE NXT, Giulia and Grace were considered two of the top stars of the women’s division.

Grace and Giulia have not been featured as much since arriving on the SmackDown brand.

Now that they are currently lost in the shuffle, it could be the right time for Jordynne Grace to join forces with Giulia in a unit.

3. Chad Gable & Penta

On the August 3 edition of Monday Night Raw, Chad Gable and Penta defeated The Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh.

This was coming off the heels of Gable defeating Penta to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 2026.

Following their recent battle, it seems like Gable and Penta have grown a deeper level of respect for one another.

Taking two of the best in-ring performers in Gable and Penta in a team would create some interesting matchups for the tag team division moving forward.

2. Sami Zayn & Johnny Gargano

Sami Zayn has been more frustrated than ever before with his treatment in WWE.

Despite most stars and fans being annoyed with his complaints, Zayn has found his only supporter and confidant in Johnny Gargano.

“Johnny Wrestling” has been lying face down in backstage segments for over six months.

Needing a spark to get him back in the ring, WWE could unite Gargano with Zayn as a tag team in the near future.

1. LA Knight & Solo Sikoa

At WWE SummerSlam 2026, LA Knight, Royce Keys and Solo Sikoa defeated The Bloodline’s Jacob Fatu and The Usos in a six-man tag team match.

Then on the August 3 WWE Raw, Fatu defeated Keys in a Street Fight. Post match, “The Samoan Werewolf” brutalized Royce with a Tongan Death Grip, bloodying him from the mouth before delivering a hip attack with a chair around his neck.

This has led to Sikoa going to Knight to try to continue their alliance, but “The Megastar” turned this down.

Now that Sikoa has to be delivered to Roman Reigns on the August 17 Raw, it might be Knight that can save him and form a tag team coming out of all of this.
