Why Lash Legend qualified for the WWE Money in the Bank ladder match over Charlotte Flair & Giulia

The penultimate spot in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match was determined on the September 25 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Following Sol Ruca, Jacy Jayne, Lola Vice and Roxanne Perez previously punching their tickets for the October 10 premium live event, Charlotte Flair battled Giulia and Lash Legend for the next spot in the upcoming match for the briefcase.

In the closing moments of the match, Giulia dropped Charlotte Flair with her Arrivederci knee strike, and followed up with a Northern Lights Bomb

Legend broke up the pin and hit Giulia with a Lash Extension to secure the victory, and her spot in the Money in the Bank bout.

With just one spot remaining in this match, there has been a lot of discourse about the stars who previously qualified, including the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.

So why was Lash Legend added to the match over Giulia and Charlotte Flair? There are many potential reasons…

The future is now

 

There’s an interesting through-line with every woman who has been confirmed for the Money in the Bank ladder match so far; each competitor only joined the main roster within the past two years.

Roxanne Perez officially joined the Raw roster in May 2025, coincidentally qualifying for that year’s Money in the Bank ladder match shortly after.

Lash Legend is the second-most veteran name in the ladder match by main roster appearances, joining forces with Nia Jax that November.

Sol Ruca and Jacy Jayne officially moved up to the main roster following WrestleMania 42 in April, with Ruca signing with Raw, and Jayne becoming a mainstay on SmackDown.

Lola Vice is the latest star from this lineup to receive her main roster call-up, with the former NXT Women’s Champion defeating Raquel Rodriguez and Kelani Jordan in her Raw debut to qualify for the upcoming ladder match.

With Tatum Paxley set to face off against Tiffany Stratton and Candice LeRae for the final Money in the Bank spot on next week’s SmackDown episode, many fans are predicting that Paxley will be victorious to keep this trend going.

It’s clear that WWE is making an effort to showcase the younger stars on its roster in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, with top established names like Charlotte Flair being snubbed.

This makes the match all the more exciting, with the briefcase holder almost guaranteed at this point to be a star who hasn’t held a world title on Raw or SmackDown already.

Will Lash Legend win on October 10?

Lash Legend has a good chance of leaving New Orleans with the Money in the Bank briefcase, given high praise for her work on the main roster.

If Tiffany Stratton doesn’t qualify next week, Legend will be the only star in the Money in the Bank lineup who also competed in the interim WWE Women’s Championship ladder match at SummerSlam, with Legend and Stratton facing off against Jade Cargill, Charlotte Flair, and eventual winner Chelsea Green.

WWE clearly values Legend as a top prospect, putting her in these top positions, and having her score decisive victories on TV over the likes of Giulia, Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green, prior to the latter name’s Women’s Championship reign.

Lash Legend winning the WWE Women’s Championship feels like an eventual inevitability, and one avenue to the top is by winning the Money in the Bank briefcase.
