To the shock of the wrestling world, The New Day left WWE after mutually parting ways with the company on May 2.

Now that they are set to become free agents, it should be interesting to see Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods explore their options outside of WWE.

Knowing they still have a lot left in the tank to become stars outside of the promotion, there are a multitude of tantalizing dream matches and rekindling of rivalries that could see The New Day putting on exciting in-ring bouts for years to come.

Here 10 ten potential New Day matches outside WWE.

10. The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley)

The past couple of weeks, WWE has had its latest round of mass talent cuts with 29 wrestlers being released from the company.

Among the names that were released were former WWE Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns.

Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley are often regarded as one of the most influential tag teams of their generation and should be a wonderful addition to any promotion.

Regardless of which company it happens in, The Motor City Machine Guns finally clashing with The New Day would be a must watch encounter between two of the greatest duos of the modern era that WWE was never able to deliver when both were hired.

9. The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin)

In 2024, MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley signed with All Elite Wrestling to reunite and form The Hurt Syndicate.

Since then, the group formerly known as The Hurt Business have run roughshod over anyone and everyone in front of them.

During their time in WWE, Lashley and Benjamin were embroiled in a rivalry with The New Day.

If Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods make their way to AEW, The Hurt Syndicate would be at the top of their list to rekindle this rivalry and put on some big time matches on a pay-per-view sooner rather than later.

8. El Sky Team (Mistico & Mascara Dorada)

Looking at the pro wrestling landscape, The New Day could walk into pretty much any promotion and be placed at the top immediately.

In Mexico, CMLL has been riding a hot streak with multiple sold-out shows at Arena Mexico with El Sky Team being positioned as a top act for the promotion.

Mistico is the biggest draw in all of Mexico and one of the biggest in the business today, while Mascara Dorada has earned the reputation as one of the best high flyers in wrestling.

With the duo also having dual contracts with All Elite Wrestling, El Sky Team have more than enough opportunities to do battle with The New Day if they see fit.

Over the past year, fans have seen JetSpeed rise up the ranks in AEW as singles stars and as a duo.

Kevin ‘The Jet’ Knight is the current TNT Champion, while Speedball Mike Bailey has established himself as one of the best in-ring competitors in the entire company.

Considering their style and success, JetSpeed would be another natural rival for The New Day if they signed with All Elite Wrestling.

With their exciting styles and personalities, The New Day and JetSpeed could put on several spectacular matches that would be a highlight of AEW television and pay-per-views.

6. Knockout Brothers (Yuto-Ice & OSKAR)

When fans talk about the best tag teams in the world right now, the Knockout Brothers are mentioned by many.

The duo of Yuto-Ice and OSKAR have cemented themselves as an unstoppable force in the tag team scene of New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Holding the IWGP Tag Team Championship for the past eight months, KOB have put the world on notice that they are here to stay and not going anywhere anytime soon.

The Knockout Brothers standing in the way of The New Day if they choose to head to NJPW writes itself and would make for an interesting encounter that could deliver big time.

5. The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz)

In January, The Rascalz signed with All Elite Wrestling and have since cemented themselves as a consistent highlight on the company’s programming.

Whether in tag team or multi-man action, Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz and Myron Reed have provided several stellar matches on AEW TV.

Immediately upon The New Day leaving WWE hit the newsfeed, Wentz took to social media to tease a match with The Rascalz.

Having a similar trajectory in the business as a trio, The Rascalz could be the perfect first opponents for The New Day if they signed with AEW in the near future.

4. The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy)

The Hardys have proven themselves to still be among the biggest and best tag teams in pro wrestling today.

Mostly working for TNA Wrestling, Matt and Jeff Hardy have been a major draw for the promotion and regularly appear on the independent scene as well.

While TNA is in a partnership with WWE, it wouldn’t be that surprising to see The Hardys wanting to step back in the ring with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

Whether it be for TNA or another indie, The Hardys vs The New Day feels like a significant bout that would draw plenty of fans into the building and to watch in any way they can.

3. Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay

One of Xavier Woods’ good friends in the entire wrestling business has been Kenny Omega.

Woods and Omega have actively displayed their bond with one another through video games on several different platforms over the years.

Meanwhile, Will Ospreay is someone who has been mentioned several times by the fans as a star they would like to see face Kofi Kingston in any capacity.

With their friendship that came from the ashes of their rivalry in 2023, Omega and Ospreay could come together once again to face off with the legendary pairing of The New Day upon their arrival in AEW.

2. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)

Since signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2020, FTR have further solidified their place in wrestling history.

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have won three AEW World Tag Team Championship, captured the IWGP Tag Team Title and even won the AAA Tag Team Championship over the past six years.

After The New Day left WWE, Wheeler took to social media to show his support towards Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

FTR facing off with The New Day if they sign with AEW would be an intriguing battle that would rekindle their feud that delivered several standout matches during their time together in WWE.
