ROH Women’s Champion Athena has commented after advancing to the semifinals of the AEW Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
The quarterfinals of this year’s tournament got underway at Double or Nothing, with Athena facing off against Mina Shirakawa at the May 24 pay-per-view.
Athena picked up the victory in 11 minutes, and has now commented ahead of the semifinals commencing.
In a backstage video shared by AEW on social media, Athena stated that “Athena Elite Wrestling” will be forever.
The ROH Women’s Champion said:
“One down, two to go. Mina, I told you I had your number, but I’m not getting ahead of myself.
“The second round is soon upon us, and I told all of you hussies before, you had enough time to steal the spotlight. Now it’s mine.
“We’re going to make Athena Elite Wrestling, forever.”

Athena calls herself the “forever champion“, a pretty fitting nickname for a star who has held the ROH Women’s Championship for over 1200 days.
Her reign began at ROH Final Battle in December 2022, with Athena defeating Mercedes Martinez to become champion.
Despite her success in ROH, Athena has yet to win a traditional championship in AEW since her debut for the company in May 2022.
While she did win the Casino Gauntlet match at All In Texas 2025, she was ultimately unsuccessful in her subsequent AEW Women’s World Title match, against Toni Storm at Forbidden Door that August.
Athena has proven herself as a top champion over the past 1263 days, so it’d make sense to see the forever champion hold gold in AEW soon.
