WWE/AEW
Having seen Adam Copeland & Christian Cage become AEW World Tag Team Champions, Matt Hardy has stated he’d love to face his former rivals one last time.
Legendary rivals in WWE, The Hardy Boyz would buy a whole era of tag team action alongside Edge & Christian, now known as Adam Copeland & Christian Cage in AEW, and The Dudley Boyz, a tag team that Matt & Jeff Hardy would retire at TNA Bound for Glory last year.
Speaking to SiriusXM Sports, Matt Hardy was asked to name their greatest rivals, stating that Edge & Christian occupied that spot, saying:
“I think, when it’s all said and done, Edge & Christian will go down as our greatest rivals. We made each other in the tag team ladder match (at WWE) No Mercy 1999.
“The Dudleys are right up there as well, and it’s hard because all the TLC stuff are Hardys, Dudleys, Edge & Christian, and we will always be associated because of that.
“But I think that when it came down to having great matches with one another, I think our greatest matches were with Edge & Christian.”

Having recently congratulated Copeland & Cage on their AEW World Tag Team Championship win at Double or Nothing, Hardy would share the possibility of one more match, going on to address the same hope with SiriusXM, stating:
“I would love to. I would love to get one more match with them before it’s all said and done.
“Maybe we’ll send them home, just like we did The Dudleys.”

Matt Hardy and Christian Cage last faced each other in singles action, on the August 3 episode of AEW Dynamite in 2022.
One More Time?
When it comes to one more match between former rivals the caliber of The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian, there’s certainly an argument that there’s money to be made.
An issue lies in their current allegiances, however, with Copeland & Cage signed to AEW and Matt & Jeff Hardy both under contract with TNA Wrestling.
While both companies allow their stars to compete on the independent scene, it’s something that neither Copeland or Cage have opted to do since signing with AEW.
Copeland has recently revealed that he doesn’t know when his current AEW deal is up, although he expects time to be added to the contract due to injury and acting absences.
Having previously stated that he expects his existing deal to be his last, Copeland plans to retire at the age of 53, with the opportunities for such a “one more time” match being limited.
