Ranking Every Match Set For Tonight’s AEW Fyter Fest & NXT Great American Bash

7. Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Penelope Ford – AEW Women’s World Championship

It’s not secret that AEW’s women’s division needs work. The build to this one has been nothing special, but the skill of the athletes involved means it should still be a great match.

The fact that the women don’t get enough time on TV – and they don’t – isn’t their fault, and Shida and Ford are two that make the most of every time they do get the spotlight.

Shida’s match against Rose at Double Or Nothing was undoubtedly one of the best women’s matches the promotion has put on, and Ford shines every time we see her, whether it be in a wrestling capacity or as Kip Sabian’s valet.

Given time, this could easily be the best AEW women’s match we’ve seen so far.

6. Santana & Ortiz vs. Private Party

This is just speculation but if you look at the way this unfolded, there’s a good chance the original plan would have been a six-man tag with Sammy Guevara joining Santana & Ortiz, and Matt Hardy joining Private Party.

Even without that happening though, it doesn’t take too much away from the match itself.

The tag team experience of the Inner Circle members will hopefully mean a well-structured match, and we know Private Party can be so much fun to watch.

With Hardy in the corner of Quen & Kassidy, and Chris Jericho on commentary, it could even break down even more.

5. Oney Lorcan vs. Timothy Thatcher

Well if you like seeing two scary blokes hit each other really hard then this is the match for you.

It’ll be fast-paced, hard-hitting, and it might not even last very long but it’ll be heaps of fun for however long it does go on for.

The only thing that lets this match down is its predictability. Thatcher pretty much has to win.

But it’s still gonna be bundles of fun.
