Released WWE Stars To Sign With TNA Wrestling

On Friday, September 4, 10 WWE stars from the company’s developmental system and NXT were confirmed to have been released from their contracts.

Seeing talent let go from WWE is always disappointing, and it’s unclear whether more cuts will potentially be coming in the next few days. What can be said though is the wrestling world is full of opportunities, whether on the independent scene or in other larger promotions.

As seen recently, Zoey Serrano (fka Zoey Stark) signed with TNA after being let go from WWE back in April, and the promotion has become known to be a landing spot for both young talent let go by WWE and more experienced names.

Here are three released WWE stars who could find a home in TNA Wrestling.

Wendy Choo

Of the names let go from WWE on September 4, Wendy Choo was the most experienced and longest tenured in the company.

Choo signed with WWE all the way back in 2019 but spent the entirety of her tenure in NXT – only making occasional main roster appearances on WWE Main Event. Before WWE, Choo competed as Karen Q and spent time in notable promotions such as Ring of Honor and Shimmer.

Choo also has experience in TNA, both before signing with WWE and afterwards. In 2024 she formed an alliance with Rosemary that crossed over between TNA and NXT, and this Summer she competed in both the TNA Knockouts Television Title tournament and in a singles match for the TNA Knockouts World Title against Xia Brookside.

Of all the names on the released list from this week, Choo seems the most nailed on to continue her career elsewhere given her prior experience, and TNA would be the perfect next move.

Samuel Shaw & Joseph Sawyer (Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy)

Another former WWE name with experience in TNA Wrestling is Samuel Shaw, and since being released from WWE in April along with the rest of the Wyatt Sicks, he has been straight back to work alongside Joseph Sawyer (Joe Gacy).

Sawyer has perhaps been the busiest of any released WWE star thus far, in fact, competing both alongside Shaw in promotions such as House of Glory, as well as resuming his singles career; where’s he’s already become both XCite Heavyweight Champion and GCW World Champion.

If they continue their momentum away from WWE, it certainly wouldn’t be surprising to see them eventually return to network television; whether through AEW or TNA Wrestling.

With Shaw’s history in TNA, and potential reunion with Indi Hartwell on the table, he feels like a likely future signee. But by arriving with Sawyer, the former Wyatt Sicks members can enter the tag team ranks and face off with fellow supernatural pairings The Righteous and Broken Matt & Jeff Hardy.

Jasper Troy

Along with Wendy Choo, Jasper Troy was the most high profile WWE departure of this week. The inaugural men’s WWE LFG winner broke onto the scene in NXT back in May 2025, and it wasn’t long before he was mixing it up at the top of the card with names such as Oba Femi and Ricky Saints.

While attempts to win the NXT Championship went nowhere, he did capture his first title in WWE in November of that year when he defeated El Grande Americano for the Men’s WWE Speed Championship.

After this run ended at the hands of Elio LeFleur in February, Troy went on a losing streak on NXT TV, before capping off his WWE run with a defeat at the hands of Akira Tozawa on the August 27, 2026 episode of WWE Main Event.

In a statement ahead of his official departure, Troy said he had “so much to prove” in wrestling, so hopefully he gets the chance to continue his career when his 30-day non-compete period expires. TNA have taken a chance on released NXT stars such as Mara Sadè and Elayna Black in the past year, so perhaps they can do the same with Troy.
