WWE
Shane McMahon has not stepped foot in a WWE ring in over three years since his last appearance at WrestleMania 39.
Since then, there has been some speculation on if fans would ever see Shane O’Mac back in the company.
If he is to make his return, WWE would have to deliver a compelling matchup to live up to the anticipation behind McMahon’s comeback.
Here are six potential Shane McMahon WWE return matches.
6. Je’Von Evans

Je’Von Evans made it to the semi-finals of King of the Ring before losing to Jey Uso
In Shane McMahon’s absence, there has been a whole new crop of talent that have emerged on the WWE main roster.
Looking at the newest stars on Raw and SmackDown, Je’Von Evans is someone who has stood out for his likeability and exciting high flying style in the ring.
‘The Young OG’ has become WWE’s newest daredevil who puts his body on the line every time he steps in the squared circle.
Pitting daredevils from two different generations together, Shane O’Mac facing Evans would give the young star a spotlight that not many matches with current talent can offer right now.
5. Chad Gable

Chad Gable is back to being a babyface after his unmasking as the Original El Grande Americano
Back at WWF King of the Ring 2001, Shane McMahon had arguably the best match of his career against Kurt Angle.
Throughout his pro wrestling career, Chad Gable has garnered comparisons to Angle on several different occasions.
The former Olympian has recently received a boost following his epic Mask vs. Mask match against El Grande Americano and subsequent redemption arc.
Gable being chosen to face McMahon would be interesting and further draw those parallels to Angle even more.
4. GUNTHER

GUNTHER is a two-time World Heavyweight Champion and the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion ever
Over the past year, GUNTHER has garnered the reputation of ‘The Career Killer’ thanks to his huge wins over Goldberg, AJ Styles and John Cena in their final matches.
After ending three legends’ careers in a matter of months, GUNTHER feels like an overpowering force for any iconic name who returns.
McMahon has been known to work well with world class performers like ‘The Ring General.’
GUNTHER squaring off with Shane O’Mac would make for one of the most engaging and intriguing matches of the third generation star.
3. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins signed with WWE back in 2010
Seth Rollins is someone who has long been recognized as one of the most skilled and gifted in-ring performers of his generation.
‘The Visionary’ solidified a reputation of doing more with less unlike many stars before him.
Facing Shane McMahon upon his return would be a daunting task for any name on the WWE roster, but for Rollins, it feels less of a struggle.
Considering his past success alongside the likes of Shawn Michaels and AJ Styles, McMahon could deliver something worthwhile with Rollins standing across the ring from him in his return.
2. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar is a 10-time WWE World Champion
Back at WWE SummerSlam 2016, Brock Lesnar defeated Randy Orton. After busting Orton open and attacking him after the match, Lesnar was confronted by then-SmackDown General Manager Shane McMahon.
Lesnar proceeded to lay out Shane O’Mac with a F-5 with many fans believing this would be the start of a teased match between the two stars.
However, this bout never happened and has remained one of the few hinted matches for McMahon he has never had.
Shane returning to face Brock in one of his final matches would not please many fans, but it may bring some interest from others and lead to an interesting bout.
1. CM Punk

CM Punk’s two tenures with WWE have been from 2005 to 2014, and from 2023 to present day
CM Punk has never been a fan of the McMahon family throughout his time in WWE.
With his heated past with Vince, Shane could see Punk as an enemy to his family and someone he must dispose of.
Punk is still one of the most trusted and biggest stars on the WWE roster today.
Considering all the history with the family, Punk would be a fitting opposition for Shane O’Mac upon his comeback to the company.
