The Original El Grande Americano, portrayed by Chad Gable, has now officially been removed from the current active WWE roster.

Last year, Gable was on a losing streak against luchadores and sought the help of Dominik Mysterio, who set him up with a contact in Mexico to learn the “dark arts” of lucha libre.

Gable then returned to WWE as El Grande Americano, now wrestling in a luchador mask and claiming to be a lucha libre legend from Mexico.

However, a few months into this run, Gable suffered an injury and the El Grande Americano character was taken over by Ludwig Kaiser.

Kaiser’s version of El Grande Americano got over huge with fans in Mexico and he became the top babyface on the WWE AAA brand.

Earlier this year at Royal Rumble, Gable returned as the “Original” El Grande Americano, setting up a feud between his and Kaiser’s versions of the Americano character.

This feud culminated at WWE AAA Noche De Los Grandes, where Kaiser’s version defeated Gable’s version in a mask vs mask match, causing Gable to unmask and ditch the OG Americano character all together.

Since then, Gable has been back on Raw and SmackDown as himself, looking to make amends for the mistakes he’s made over the past couple of years.

On the official WWE website roster page, despite being the same person, Gable and OG Americano were listed as separate wrestlers on the current WWE roster.

Today, the OG Americano was moved to the alumni section of the roster page, signifying the character’s ‘departure’ from WWE now that Gable is back to being himself.

There are still separate profiles on the current page for El Grande Americano and Ludwig Kaiser.
