Big E has opened up on why it wasn’t difficult for him to come to the end of his WWE in-ring career following his broken neck.

During a match on WWE SmackDown back in March 2022, Big E suffered a broken neck after a belly to belly suplex mishap outside the ring from Ridge Holland during the New Day’s rivalry with the Brawling Brutes.

Since suffering the broken neck, Big E has now becoming a broadcaster in WWE, with him recently confirming that his in-ring career is over.

Big E Explains Why It Wasn’t Difficult To End In-Ring Career

Speaking to The A2TheK Wrestling Show to promote his upcoming book, Big E reflected on his WWE career, and why it wasn’t difficult for him to end his in-ring career.

He said:

“It wasn’t difficult for me, as much as I loved my time in the ring, it wasn’t heartbreaking for me to say my time here is over, because I was able to look back.

“Ok. A guy like me. I’m not six feet tall. I don’t come from a wrestling lineage at all. To me, as a failed football player who came in with bad knees, to be the second ever NXT Champion, WWE named us the greatest tag team of all time, to have this long extended promo seg with The Rock, to have a cereal, a wrestling cereal that people actually went out to buy, to be number one in merch in 2016 in the whole company.

“To become WWE Champion, Mr. Money In The Bank, all these things, but more than anything, to have the respect of my peers, the respect from fans, I can look back, and I had so much fun in my career. I am so grateful, I am so thankful.

“This is not an easy business, there’s a lot of politics to deal with, a lot of time away from family and friends. The politics, you can go on and on about navigating that. I tell wrestlers all the time, the hard part is not the wrestling training, the shows, not the bumps, not all that, the hard part is learning to navigate the office, it’s learning to deal with creative, it’s learning when to push and say I’ll eat this one today. If you don’t know how to navigate those waters, you might not be around for long.

“More than anything, I can look back, and I just had such a charmed career. I’m so grateful for my career and the crux of that, more than anything, I have to thank Kofi, I have to thank Austin (Creed), because there is no Big E WWE Championship run without those guys, there is no Money In The Bank, and there is no potential Hall of Fame.

“All these things, people talk to me about my career, my career is one with maybe a little bit of promise early, and then peters out fairly quickly, and maybe we forget about this guy if not for Kofi and Woods, so I am so, so grateful for them.”

Will Big E Be A Two-Time WWE Hall Of Famer?

With Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods no longer with WWE, while Big E remains signed to the company as a broadcaster, an interesting scenario may play itself out which sees Big E inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a singles star.

Obviously the New Day will one day enter the WWE Hall of Fame together as a stable, with them being arguably one of the greatest trios in the history of the company, when Kofi and Woods’ careers are said and done and they return to the company for the induction, but with WWE continuing to run thinner on names to induct, and Big E remaining with the company, he may end up getting the nod alone, as well as part of the New Day.

The main issue with Big E potentially getting a solo induction would be who inducts him, as Kofi and Woods would be the obvious first choices for that spot.
