As of October 1, Sheamus is now officially a free agent after leaving WWE earlier this year.

“The Celtic Warrior” will be garnering plenty of interest from just about every promotion out there, including All Elite Wrestling.

Considering his ties to various stars in the company, it would make sense if AEW brought Sheamus in and had a high anticipated debut opponent in the wings for him.

Here are five potential Sheamus AEW debut opponents.

Jon Moxley

During their time in WWE, Sheamus and Jon Moxley were no strangers to one another.

Whether it be Sheamus beating Mox for the United States Championship or their many battles in tag team action, these two men have a strong chemistry with one another.

If Sheamus signs with All Elite Wrestling, he will have to square off with a much different Jon Moxley than the Dean Ambrose he knew in WWE.

Sheamus stepping up to challenge The Death Riders leader for the AEW Continental Championship could be a tantalizing debut matchup for the former WWE Champion.

Kyle Fletcher

Kyle Fletcher has emerged as one of the best in-ring performers in all of AEW today.

Fletcher’s intensity and hard hitting style in the ring has put him among the most elite competitors in the entire wrestling industry.

When looking at the AEW roster, there might not be anyone better suited for Sheamus’ style than “The Protostar.”

Fletcher stepping up to face Sheamus upon his potential arrival would set up one of the most physical battles fans have seen in a long while.

MJF

As soon as it was announced Sheamus was leaving WWE, MJF was one of the first AEW stars to comment.

Over the years, MJF has interacted with Sheamus and could be the perfect person to introduce him to All Elite Wrestling.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman can argue that he is the greatest AEW star of all time as a former three-time AEW World Champion among his other accolades.

With a possible Sheamus debut on the horizon, MJF might want to step in the ring with “The Celtic Warrior” in a first time ever meeting.

Will Ospreay

Following the events of All In London 2026, Will Ospreay is now the AEW World Champion.

“The Aerial Assassin” has been competed inside the squared circle every week, showing that he is not scared to compete against current or even newer stars in AEW.

Sheamus is a former four-time WWE World Champion and someone who could give Ospreay a run for his money.

Having him come in to challenge for the top prize in the promotion, Sheamus might arrive and immediately be thrusted into an AEW World Title against Ospreay.

Claudio Castagnoli

This feels like a no-brainer in so many ways if Sheamus decides to sign with All Elite Wrestling.

During his time in WWE, Sheamus and Claudio Castagnoli started off as a rivals and even squared off in a best-of-seven series, but they are most known as a tag team for their run as The Bar.

Over just a couple of years, Sheamus and Claudio became five-time WWE Tag Team Champions and one of the best duos in the world.

Now if Sheamus joins his former tag team partner in AEW, there is the potential to have these two clash one more time before inevitably reuniting.
